Christmas Open House

As many of you know, Lee and I have been working on restoring our 1923 Bungalow home for the past 3 years. It belonged to 4 generations of Lee's family and then was out of the family for under 30 years. In 2007, after a foreclosure, we were able to purchase it and get it back in the family.

In August of this year, and after a year of starting the process, our home was finally listed on the National Register of Historic Places. We were thrilled and thought we would celebrate by hosting a Christmas Open House this year to open our home up to people who would like to see it. Don't get me wrong, it's not that we think our home is so fabulous that people should flock to us in droves to see it, but we have had so many people over the past 3 years come up to us and ask about the house, either because they have always admired it or have a connection to it or the family in some way. There are people in our town that always say that they want to come by and see it, so we thought we would give them an opportunity to take a look at it and give us an opportunity to hear the stories and history about the house from people other than the family.

Our local paper did a story on us in 2007 about how we had just bought the place and then came back recently and did another story about how we have finished it (is it ever really finished...I don't think so)! Here is the article in 3 different portions...hopefully you can read it!

After Christmas when things slow down for a week or two, I would like to get a post together on all of the before and after pictures of our house. Hopefully that will actually happen before little Virginia arrives!
